What is Lifafa

"Lifafa" is a term in Hindi indicating a meaningful envelope, similarly this is a digital platform where users can send and receive virtual envelopes containing random amounts of cryptocurrency as gifts, inspired by the traditional Chinese red packets. It combines the cultural concept of gifting with the excitement of receiving unexpected crypto amounts.

Why now?

Red envelopes, introduced on WeChat during Chinese New Year in 2014, spurred exponential growth. Within a month, WeChat payments surged from 30 million to 100 million users. Over the six-day holiday, 20 million red envelopes were exchanged, skyrocketing to 3.2 billion the following year.

We're launching a crypto-based product inspired by the success of digital red packets. The widespread adoption and excitement generated during cultural events demonstrate the potential to merge tradition with digital interactions.

How does Okto help?

While Lifafa can be opened on any platform as a dApp, the advantage of opening it on our decentralized wallet 'Okto' is we can make it function smoothly as a 2P dApp as opposed to using Wallet connect as another step.

Creating a Lifafa

Designed the UI to resemble a handwritten letter, adding a personal touch to the experience. The process flows seamlessly: first, select the blockchain and token, then choose the number of recipients, add a message, approve the transaction request and just like that—Voila! A Lifafa is created.

Adding funds being the most critical point to succeed in your transactions we showed user's their balance upfront with the ease of being a 2P dApp.


We designed the transaction request to be transparent with foremost the funds and fees being highlighted, following a trust-marker that this is legitimate platform.

To drive virality, I introduced a reward mechanism where early claimants received higher amounts, creating urgency and excitement.
